Meet John

John Keating has called Frisco home since 1999. For more than a decade on City Council, he’s helped deliver the partnerships and projects that made Frisco a national standout while keeping taxes low and quality of life high. Now he’s running for Mayor to keep Frisco forward-thinking, fiscally disciplined, and family-first.

A Record of Getting Big Things Done

John has been at the table for many of Frisco’s signature wins: The Star partnership with the Dallas Cowboys, the National Soccer Hall of Fame with FC Dallas, renewal of the NCAA Division I Football Championship in Frisco, launch of the UNT–Frisco campus, the PGA of America Headquarters move to Frisco, and the opening of our state-of-the-art public library. These aren’t just headlines—they’re proof that smart public-private partnerships can elevate amenities while protecting taxpayers.

Service – From the Army to City Hall

Before public service at City Hall, John served 13 years in the U.S. Army as a senior counterintelligence agent, including deployment to Saudi Arabia during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. That experience shaped his calm, mission-focused leadership style and earned recognition later in civilian life—including a Congressional Veteran Commendation (2017) and PepsiCo Frito-Lay’s Valor Leadership Award (2016) for his work with veteran organizations.

Education & Community

John is a Towson University graduate and completed the Senior Executives in State and Local Government program at Harvard’s Kennedy School (Class of July 2019). He’s been recognized locally too: Frisco ISD PTA awarded him an Honorary Lifetime Membership in 2010 for years of PTA fundraising on behalf of teachers and students.

Family

John is the proud dad of two sons, Zach and Ryan. Like so many Frisco families, they chose this city for its schools, safety, and opportunity, and John’s work has been about preserving that promise for every neighborhood.
